How we compare e-bikes

EbikeSheet is a spec sheet and a range estimator, not a test lab. We collect published specs, re-check them on a schedule, estimate range the same way for every bike and rank by the numbers.

What is listed

31 e-bikes from Aventon, Rad Power Bikes, Lectric, Velotric, Himiway and Heybike. Bikes sold mainly through bike shops, such as Trek and Specialized, are not listed yet. A bike is added once its specs and US price can be confirmed, and removed when it is discontinued. We list only legal e-bikes: motors of 750W or less and assisted speeds of 28 mph or less. This is not every e-bike on the market.

Where specs come from

Motor, battery, weight, payload and claimed range come from the brand's own page, or from a reputable spec listing where the brand's page cannot be read. Each bike page says which, links to the source and shows the date the specs were last verified; two bikes are re-checked every day, oldest first. Specs a brand does not state are left blank.

Prices

Price and stock are read from each brand's own store every day. Each bike page shows the date its price was checked.

Realistic range

Brands quote best-case range. Our realistic range is an estimate from one consistent model, by default for a 180 lb rider on rolling terrain at medium assist, and the range estimator lets you change those inputs. It is a model, not a road test, and claimed range is always shown beside it as the brand's figure.

Accessories

The accessory pages make no compatibility claims of our own. A spare battery is listed for a bike only where the bike maker's listing names that bike. Hitch racks show the rack maker's stated weight, tire and wheelbase limits, and a bike's page compares its published weight and tire width with them; that is arithmetic on published figures, not a fit test. Locks and helmets show the maker's stated security rating or certification. Every statement is quoted with a link to its source and the date we last found it there; a script re-checks them and the prices daily. We have not tested any accessory.

Rankings

Every "best" pick is computed. Best value is the most realistic miles per dollar. Lists such as lightweight or heavier riders are filters on published specs, for example under 55 lb or a 400 lb load rating, sorted by that spec or by price.
