Should You Buy a Robot Mower in the Fall?
Updated 2026-10-06
Fall can be a good time to buy, as long as you pick the mower for your yard first and the discount second. Here's what we can see in our own price data, and what to weigh before you order.
What prices are doing right now
We refresh prices from the brands' own stores every day. On October 6, 2026, compared with what the same stores showed on September 24:
- 7 of the 30 mowers we list are cheaper, by 5% to 21%.
- The cuts are concentrated in a few lines: the Segway Navimow i2 series, the Dreame A3 AWD range and the Lymow One Plus.
- Most of the rest haven't moved at all.
- Several are out of stock at their brand's store, including models from Mammotion, ANTHBOT and Worx.
That's under two weeks of data, so treat it as a snapshot. We can't tell you prices will keep falling, or that spring prices will be higher. The pattern so far is simply that some brands are discounting at the end of the mowing season and some are running out of stock. Current prices are on every mower's page and on the compare page.
Reasons to buy now
- A real discount on the right mower. If the model that suits your lawn is one of the ones marked down, the saving is there today.
- Time to set up without pressure. Mapping the lawn, placing the dock and sorting out trouble spots is easier when the grass is growing slowly. You'll start spring with a mower that already knows the yard.
- You can still get a few weeks of mowing in in much of the country, and all winter in warm-season regions.
- Next year's lineup is uncertain. New models from overseas makers now need FCC clearance before they can launch in the US. See what the FCC rule means for buyers. Mowers already on sale aren't affected.
Reasons to wait
- The warranty clock starts now. If the mower sits in the garage until April, you've used up months of coverage without mowing.
- The return window will close before spring. Set it up and run it on your lawn right away, slopes and narrow passages included, so you find out about problems while you can still send it back.
- The battery needs care over winter. Store it indoors at the charge level the manual gives. Our winterizing guide covers this.
- The model you want may not be the one on sale. A discount on a mower rated for half your lawn isn't a bargain.
How to decide
- Work out what your yard needs with the yard matcher: area, steepest slope, tree cover, number of zones.
- Check whether a matching mower is marked down and in stock.
- If it is, buy and test it now, inside the return window.
- If it isn't, wait. A mower that fits the lawn at full price is a better buy than the wrong one on sale. We keep prices current, so you can check back.
Bottom line
Some brands are cutting prices this fall and some models are selling out. Buying now makes sense if the right mower for your yard is discounted and you'll set it up straight away. If not, there's no harm in waiting for spring.
